There’s something magical about engagement sessions. You are seeing the couple as they really are, before all the primping, priming, drama and stress of the wedding day sets in. We get to see them flirt, watch them get comfortable with each other and have a little fun before their big day. But how challenging is it to capture the true spirit of the couple on camera? With a team like Anne-Marie Bouchard of AMBphoto and Catalina Bloch, photographic stylist, there’s no question that we are seeing the true Kelsie & Dane. When Catalina submitted this adorable engagement session to me, I asked her to tell us a little bit about the process:

“Kelsie and Dane are quite when you first meet them, well at least Kelsie, since I only met Dane on the day of the shoot. Kelsie didn’t say very much at our first meeting which made it hard for me to read her personality and style her shoot. I always want to style shoots to reflect peoples real personalities and this one was a bit of a challenge. Kelsie is one of those girls that can pull of pretty much any outfit but I still wanted to make sure that she had the right outfit. I had only seen pictures of Dane as he lives in Toronto but from that I realised that he also could pull anything off. I wanted them to be able to look at these amazing pictures that AMBphoto was going to take, ten years from now, and feel like that was exactly them. After leaving our meeting something inside me just said that this girl was fun fun fun even though she may be quiet at first. So I went for it, I trusted my gut.

The shoot was done to reflect the first two things that came to my mind. Love + Fun. Anne-Marie and I drove around for a few hours trying to find the perfect location and then she directed us to Art-Is-In Bakery. Well that was the spot! Not only was the light under the bridge amazing it was the perfect concrete for chalk. Then for a softer more relaxed look we went down by the parkway.  That was that. The results of the day are what your see, and I hope it really shows who they really are the totally fun and totally in love couple that they are!”
